The three of us walked into the hospital like it was any other day, and we werenât going there with a task that was important to every person here. Janis clutched a crystal in her hand and kept her head down all the way to the morgue.
âI thought you couldnât see them?â Jordan asked.
âOh, I canât but their energy is so strong here itâs like a million voices screaming my name all at once.â
We hurried to the back room, and Buddy stayed close to Janis, and I thought I noticed her reach for him. âThank you, Buddy,â she murmured.
The ghost of the old woman was still wandering around blindly, while Justice was nowhere in sight. âDo you see him?â Janis asked.
âNo, not yet.â It was odd, heâd been here when weâd left. Even though he was weak he was still communicating.
âIâm here,â Justice said, as he glided across the room. He glanced at Janis and then back at me. âAre you going to help me?â
âJanis is going to try.â
âJustice, Iâm sorry for what happened. Iâm not sure we know everything that has happened or what will happen. But I have a bad feeling about whatâs coming, and I think there are forces trying to bind spirits to this side of the realm for their own uses,â Janis said.
âDo you know why?â he asked.
âNo, but weâre going to do all we can to find out and stop them from whatever plan they have. I think the first thing we need to do is try to help you to cross over. Since your death seems somehow connected I worry thereâs a reason youâre still here, and Iâm sorry to say, I donât think itâs good.â
âJanis, I know we only spoke a few times, but I trust you. I donât want to hurt anyone, but I also donât understand whatâs happened to me. I want peace. If you can help me find that, Iâd be grateful.â His voice warbled, and his form shimmered as he spoke, and I wondered if he was getting weaker the longer he was here.
âBran and Jordan together can help you, together their power will guide you,â Janis explained. âIâll just be a few moments while I get everything ready. She looked around the room before setting her bag down on a counter and going through the same routine sheâd done earlier at her house. First, she lit a bundle of sage and other herbs and started to clear the room.
But this time, things did not go as smoothly as they had earlier. As she walked around the room spreading the scented smoke throughout, the temperature in the room dropped, and a mist formed along the floor. Janis ignored this and cleansed every part of the room.
The old woman from earlier pounded on the door and asked to be let in. But Janis either couldnât hear her or ignored her and set out everything she had earlier. âOkay I want us to do exactly what we did earlier. Justice youâll need to enter Jordanâs body again.
